Soda PDF Review, Demo & 50 – 75% Off Coupon- Complete PDF Solution

Soda PDF by Lulu software is a reliable PDF reader that goes cross-platform from phone to tablet & desktop. Think of it as a complete solution for anything PDF related. You can create, edit, and convert PDF’s all within the app easily. Managing PDF files has never been easier & all inclusive in one application.

How it works:

At first glance, SodaPDF looks like a standard pdf reader with a very familiar windows app UI. However, there’s much more than meets the eye. Opening the app presents you with a homepage of your most recent documents you’ve opened via soda. This makes it easy to access documents from past history. Soda goes above & beyond by allowing you to have a tabbed interface to see multiple PDFs at once. Highly useful when referencing multiple documents at once.

Beyond viewing pdf’s you can, of course, do many other things. You can also create brand new files within the app or convert other documents into a pdf. A full suite of features from converting, editing basic info, to OCR & E-sign technology all in one app.

Features & Benefits

Soda PDF features include:

  • Full-fledged PDF viewer
  • Create PDFs from Word, Excel, PPT, JPG files (Conversion)
  • Modify/Edit current PDF files
  • PDF annotation & note taking for collaboration
  • Secure PDF files with AES 256-bit encryption
  • E-Sign forms
  • OCR technology (Optical Character Recognition) take scanned documents & turn them into editable PDF’s
  • PDF on the go (Connect to cloud services like Dropbox, google, etc)

As far as benefits go this is where SodaPDF really shines compared to normal PDF readers.

Not only is it a simple reader where you can go over documents & do basic edits but you can also, of course, create them from scratch. Creating from a blank template, converting from another file type, or even merging multiple files. The conversion feature really is a highlight of SodaPDF. You can create PDF from a ton of file types such as word, excel, ppt, and jpgs. This goes hand in hand with the OCR feature allowing you to scan an image & automatically import the info into an editable PDF file.

This benefits user in a lot of ways, most importantly it allows them to manage PDF files to the full potential in one application. No need to use one app to convert then another to edit when you can do it all in one. This makes handling work-related files simply & easy with a myriad of other features like E-Sign & of course cross-platform support so you can work on whatever platform you prefer.

My Experience w/Soda PDF

In testing SodaPDF, I had the opportunity to try it across various platforms. PDF files are almost inevitable this day in age especially in the world of work. SodaPDF was always quick to open & displayed my files beautifully. I especially enjoyed the tabbed interface which allowed me to consolidate multiple documents in one window or split it depending on my preference. I don’t typically create PDF’s, however, the opportunity to do so via features like conversion from multiple file formats is definitely useful.

The OCR feature worked great in taking a .jpg file I imported & then was able to then edit after SodaPDF analyzed it. Saving a ton of time from having to retype up a whole document. All basic editing tools from highlighting, annotation, and text editing was all available & satisfactory in my tests.  Above all, it just worked great across a desktop & even a phone web browser which is a big plus when having to take documents on the go. A true PDF swiss army knife of an app to have.

Compared to most pdf apps out there this is on the pricier scale depending on the version you choose ranging from $48-$120 yearly fees.

Ease of Use 4 / 5

What Others are Saying

“Just because Adobe created the PDF format doesn't mean it's the only source of quality PDF software. Soda PDF 8 offers powerful tools for creating and editing PDF files in a sleek, modern interface with a useful cloud-computing component. The basic application is free, but to get all the functionality you'd need to rival Editors' Choice Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, you have to pay. Fortunately, it's worth the cost it takes to get the full productivity this app can deliver.” – PC Mag

“Soda PDF excels in affordability and usability. You're able to custom build a PDF solution to suit your needs, and the results are excellent.” – CNET

Final Verdict/Conclusion

When it comes to PDF files there are some standard apps in the ecosystem. However, applications like SodaPDF go above & beyond what’s offered & should be considered in the lineup. Allowing you full control over PDF files from viewing, editing, converting and much more in the app. Grant it the app is slightly more expensive & has a couple options to offer you can choose what tier works best for you depends on your needs.

In itself, the feature such as conversion, OCR, and the ability to manage multiple PDF’s swiftly in one app may be worth it in itself versus having to use several apps instead of one. Soda PDF does all of that efficiently & packages it in a familiar UI for any user to navigate be it on a desktop, tablet or even a phone. Take control of your PDF files today with SodaPDF.
